Top 5 Therapeutic Natural Product Manufacturers in Malaysia (2021)

Natural products with therapeutic claims are required to be registered with the Drug Control Authority (DCA) before they can be marketed in Malaysia [1]. As of 2022, the number of therapeutic natural products (natural products) registered in Malaysia already reached 13,102 at the time of writing. Since 2018, the number of natural products registered each year has been high with more than 500 products registered successfully each year.

The number of natural products registered per year had been doubled since 2012, from a total of 325 types of the product registered in a year to 625 types of the product registered in 2021 (92 % increment). The peak registration was in 2020 when the total types of the natural product registered is 739, surprisingly the Covid-19 pandemic doesn’t drive the demand for the natural product as compared to health supplement products.

In this article, we are interested in knowing the company that actively registered the most type of natural products in the year 2021. This ranking is purely based on the number of product types registered in Malaysia.

From the overall trend of the therapeutic natural product registered in Malaysia, we see there are no drastic changes in the pattern of registration of new therapeutic natural products.

Zooming into the trend in the top 5 therapeutic natural product manufacturers, 3 out of 5 have a significant increase in their product registration in 2020 and 2021. It might be due to increased demand for certain types of natural products type. An interesting pattern we noticed is the increasing demand for halal natural product OEM in the market, this can be shown by the increment of the product registered in Ruza Resources and Sari Tani.
